Lakefront running with a central finish and possible route adjustments
Use the organizer’s marathon information to distinguish the full-distance route from the half marathon and 10K. Their shared date does not mean identical start locations or access instructions. The half marathon’s Quaibrücke start should not be silently copied into a full-marathon itinerary.
The central Sechseläutenplatz finish gives supporters a useful destination, but the final access plan should determine the exact meeting point. Choose somewhere outside the finish chute and make it workable without crossing the active course. Read bag collection and transport instructions before deciding how quickly you can leave after finishing.
The organizer flags construction as a possible reason for route changes. Study the latest full-marathon map, then check it again when the participant guide arrives. An earlier map remains useful background but cannot guarantee every turn or road closure. Official measurement also does not imply that the route has no rises or exposed sections.
For race preparation, practise a steady effort and your fueling routine on sustained road running. Let wind, turns and crowding affect the momentary pace instead of forcing every kilometre to match an average. Treat promotional personal-best statistics as descriptions of previous participants, not a prediction of your own result.
If your hotel is near the finish, verify the full-marathon journey to the start independently. A convenient return after the race is valuable, but it does not guarantee a short morning transfer. Plan breakfast, transport and start-area entry as separate steps, and check whether construction or race closures alter the route you would normally use. Give supporters the same current map so they do not rely on a crossing that becomes unavailable.
