Additional event notes
The 50th edition starts at the Morrison Center
The YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon confirms May 15, 2027 at 07:00. The 50th-anniversary race uses the Boise Greenbelt and starts and finishes near the Morrison Center on Boise State University’s campus.
The start is on the southeast side of the Morrison Center near South Brady Street, while the finish is on the northwest side near South Earle Street. Save those locations before arriving; “Morrison Center” alone does not identify the correct side for each stage of the morning.
The organizer provides a coloured parking pass at collection, with a digital version for runners unable to collect on Friday. Follow the marathon garage assignment rather than the shorter races’ parking instructions. The FAQ allows race-morning collection, but leave enough time for parking, the check-in queue and reaching the 07:00 start.
The event has four courses, with later races joining the day. Follow full-marathon signs at every split instead of following the runners ahead. Use the current marathon map from the organizer’s course page, and ask a marshal if the route is unclear. A familiar Greenbelt path is not necessarily the correct race route at every junction.
The FAQ lists aid approximately every one-and-a-half miles, with named nutrition suppliers, and says there is no fixed cutoff. Confirm final support arrangements if expecting a long day; an open-ended finish policy is not a guarantee of every service at every hour. Rehearse what you plan to consume and carry your preferred permitted products when the station assortment may differ. The 5K timetable conflicts across pages, so accompanying runners should verify their own start separately.
Confirmed race date
YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon: May 15, 2027. Verified on October 14, 2026 against the organizer’s distance-specific information.
Last-known race profile
These details identify the race page; they do not establish the next edition's operations. The previous race date does not establish the next edition. Use the confirmed date above and recheck the final participant instructions before committing to a race-day schedule.
Build toward the confirmed race date
- establish repeatable weekly frequency before event-specific intensity;
- extend easy endurance only when the following week remains recoverable;
- practise fueling, equipment or stations in ordinary training rather than guessing race-day rules;
- keep strength and recovery compatible with the primary sessions; and
- anchor a specific block to the confirmed date only when its opening workload matches your recent training.
With the race date confirmed, use the training start-date calculator and compare the marathon training hub. Calendar arithmetic does not establish training readiness.
What the organizer still needs to confirm
Recheck the exact date, represented distances, registration, venue, start waves, course, cutoff, aid, cancellation terms and participant guide. Use the current race-week forecast for final clothing and pacing decisions.
