Two hilly loops, with open-road responsibilities
The Über-Drüber organizer lists May 6, 2027 and describes the marathon as two 21.1 km loops with approximately 1,300 metres of total climbing. The route is about 80% asphalt and 20% gravel or meadow paths. It starts by the town office on Redtenbacherplatz in Kirchdorf, and the roads remain open to traffic.
Treat the first loop as preparation for doing the climbing again. Use sustainable effort uphill and controlled descending rather than trying to protect a flat-marathon split. In training, combine runnable road sections with hills and some uneven footing so that the transition between surfaces is familiar. The half marathon covers one loop; its finish rhythm is not the right guide for somebody continuing onto a second.
Read the open-road instructions and follow marshals and traffic requirements. A race number does not mean every junction is closed or every vehicle will stop. Stay attentive when crossing or changing direction, and avoid a pacing plan that makes a brief necessary pause feel like time that must immediately be regained.
The organizer also lists a downtown parking restriction during part of the event. Check the current access times before choosing where to leave a vehicle, especially if supporters intend to depart before you finish. Save the individual marathon's instructions separately from the four-leg relay's exchange information. Your transport, belongings and finishing allowance need to match your own competition, not the combined distance printed in the festival programme.
