Sicó’s Saturday 42 km trail race, separate from the ultras
The marathon-length race sits between much longer ultras and Sunday’s shorter trails. Select the 42 km Maratona Trail when entering and saving the course. A 111-mile or 111 km schedule may start the previous day and has different equipment and support arrangements; it cannot be used to calculate the Saturday marathon’s available time.
The 2027 rules list collection for the 42 km on Friday and again on Saturday morning in Praça do Município. The Saturday programme also includes buses to Santiago da Guarda for the 60 km race. Marathon entrants should not board that transfer by mistake: their published start is in Condeixa. Check the final location and collection deadline before arranging transport.
With substantial climbing over a marathon-length route, preparation should include uneven terrain, uphill walking where appropriate and controlled descents. Compare the final intermediate cutoffs with the time you expect to need on those sections, rather than dividing a road-marathon pace evenly across 42 km. Keep enough margin for station stops and route checks.
The organizer restricts outside assistance to designated aid areas and requires the bib to remain visible. Supporters should use approved access points and avoid entering participant-only station areas. The rules still contain some links pointing to 2026 course pages, so confirm that each downloaded file belongs to the 2027 42 km race. Recheck the current mandatory equipment and aid plan before departure, and practise using the supplies and carrying system you intend to take. An eight-and-a-half-hour overall limit does not remove intermediate gates or permit continuing after officials close a section. Follow the event’s withdrawal and transport instructions if you cannot continue.
