Toyako’s lakeside route and early checkpoint constraints
The early out-and-back means runners can be approaching in opposite directions during the opening kilometres. Follow the marshals and keep space for the returning field. A crowded start is not a reason to weave aggressively or attempt to recover every lost second before the first checkpoint.
The previous programme used gun-time closures, including a 09:45 gate at 5 km after a 09:00 start. Time spent reaching the start line therefore reduced the remaining allowance. Check the next edition’s complete checkpoint table and compare it with realistic progress from your assigned starting group, including time for aid stops.
The older instructions sent bibs, timing chips and the programme in advance, and required chips to be returned after finishing. Do not assume a conventional expo pickup is available for every runner. Confirm the current delivery or collection arrangement, especially if entering from abroad, and keep the correct chip with your bib during travel.
The main event area is on the lakefront, while baggage and other services have used the Toyako Cultural Center and tourist-information facilities. Check the new venue map before choosing a meeting place. The access page identifies New Chitose Airport and JR Toya Station as regional approaches, but its approximate journey times are not a current transport timetable. Plan the last connection to your accommodation separately and check race-day road restrictions. Before committing to a future trip, obtain the new date, full-distance entry rules and support schedule. Prepare familiar supplies around the new aid map rather than assuming the previous food stations or personal-drink restrictions will remain identical.
