A single trail lap across Hampshire and Berkshire
The Hampshire Hoppit organizer describes a single-lap marathon, predominantly off road, through Hampshire and Berkshire. The June 13, 2027 programme lists the full marathon at 09:00 with a seven-hour limit; the half marathon and 10K start later. Use the full-marathon schedule when planning arrival, even if travelling with someone in a shorter event.
Download the marathon GPX and elevation information together with the aid locations. A single lap removes repeated-lap counting, but it also means a missed opportunity to refill may not come around again shortly. Estimate time between aid points using the terrain and your likely trail effort, then rehearse carrying what you need for those gaps.
Use long runs on comparable paths to practise comfortable changes of pace, controlled climbing and descending, and eating without stopping for a long break. Seven hours is a total event allowance rather than a moving-time target. Leave margin for aid, congestion and slower footing when deciding whether your current preparation fits the race.
The organizer publishes a hot-weather policy. Read the version applicable to the coming event and check any changes to carrying requirements or operations in the final briefing. Do not assume a marked trail eliminates the need to know the route, or that the usual aid plan will remain unchanged under every condition. For supporters, select access points from the current event information and agree a finish meeting location; a rural path visible on a map does not necessarily provide vehicle access or permission to park nearby.
