The Big Pilgrimage boat crossing and separate marathon finish
This point-to-point route combines coastal paths and countryside along the opening of the Old Way pilgrimage route. The boat transfer is part of the event, so allow for the organizer’s loading and safety instructions rather than treating the crossing as running terrain. Check the final briefing for how any waiting or transfer time is handled in the results.
Choose the marathon transport option if leaving a vehicle at Boundary Oak School. The shorter event uses a different finishing and parking arrangement, which would leave you in the wrong place after a full-marathon finish. Confirm the pickup location, departure and reservation on your own booking rather than relying on the general festival timetable.
The event page has a 2027 heading but retains a transport-booking deadline dated 2026. That deadline should not be reused for this edition. Ask the organizer for the current booking cutoff and final wave schedule, then leave room for travel between the car park, coach and Southampton collection area.
The organizer asks runners to carry fluid and recommends keeping the route available on a device, even though the course is marked. Practise with your chosen carrying system and download the map beforehand. Agree with supporters that the full-marathon finish is Boundary Oak School, and label any bag for the correct finish transport. Check the current cutoff and withdrawal procedure so a stop on this one-way route does not turn into an improvised journey back to the start.
