Tawau Sports Complex and the completed 2026 edition
Use the tourism listing to identify the event and organizer, then follow the organizer’s new announcement before entering. A past listing remaining online is not an open registration. Match the event name, year and full-marathon distance on any payment page, and do not assume a social-media post about another Tawau running event describes this marathon.
The sports complex is a useful previous-edition location, but it does not establish a future start gate, collection desk or parking entrance. Wait for the participant instructions to resolve those details together. If travelling to Tawau, keep accommodation and transport terms workable until the new race and your own entry are confirmed.
Once the next full-distance event is announced, ask for its route map, support spacing and time limit before building a race-specific pacing plan. Do not substitute a city road map for an approved race route. A course can change even when the event name and base venue remain familiar.
While the date is unresolved, maintain training that can transfer to another confirmed marathon rather than forcing a peak block around an assumed August weekend. Build repeatable running, recovery and practical nutrition habits at a workload you can sustain. Use current local conditions and organizer alerts for the eventual race-day plan; historical climate or the previous edition’s start time cannot establish the conditions of a future event.
2027 date status: not yet fixed
The organiser has not announced a 2027 Tawau Marathon date. The Sabah Tourism Board lists the completed 2026 race for August 23 at Tawau Sports Complex and names Tawau Runners as organiser. This page was checked on August 27, 2026 against Tawau Marathon 2026 official tourism listing and Official organiser page.
A previous edition does not prove that a 2027 edition or date is fixed. We therefore removed the expired date from this page's Event data and do not publish a guessed annual rollover.
Do not turn the old date into a prediction
Race weekends can move because of permits, venue availability, organizer decisions, weather risk or calendar conflicts. “About a year later” is not an official date. Until the organiser publishes one:
- do not book non-refundable travel around an inferred weekend;
- do not start a date-locked taper or peak block;
- do not rely on an old route, start time, cutoff or registration rule; and
- do not treat a third-party registration listing as stronger than the organiser.
What you can train now
Use the waiting period for durable, non-date-specific work:
- establish a repeatable weekly running frequency;
- extend easy volume gradually while preserving recovery;
- practise fueling on appropriate long runs without forcing race pace;
- build general strength and address movement-changing pain with qualified help; and
- keep one training log that makes fatigue, missed weeks and recovery visible.
Once an exact date is published, use the training start-date calculator and compare the marathon plan hub. Do not compress a plan merely to fit a newly announced event.
What to verify in the next organiser update
- 2027 date;
- registration window;
- course map;
- start time;
- cutoff and aid details;
Save the organizer page rather than an old screenshot. Registration opening is the moment to recheck entry eligibility, fees, cancellation terms and whether the marathon distance is actually part of the announced programme.
Prepare without pretending certainty
The running pace calculator can organize pace scenarios, and the marathon fueling planner can structure rehearsals. Neither tool supplies the missing race date or guarantees a result.
This page will move back to dated race date only after the organizer publishes an exact future date. Until then, the honest answer-first experience is “date pending,” with the evidence and next decision visible at the top. See how 26weeks builds an adaptive plan once a goal is real.
