Rockland Lake’s partial opening lap and shuttle condition
The partial first lap matters when counting progress. Nine identical lake circuits would not reproduce the official marathon route. Use the current start position and timing instructions, keep your bib visible and let the lap-counting process record each passage.
The optional Manhattan shuttle has its own schedule and eligibility. In the displayed edition it required advance purchase, departed at 05:00 and was restricted to runners expecting to finish in under six hours. Do not book it on the assumption that it waits until the seven-hour course closure.
The 2026 instructions allowed collection from 06:00–06:45 and required time to walk from collection to the start. Early starts were not allowed, and the starting mat closed shortly after the gun. For a future edition, confirm the new times before arranging transport or deciding that you can start at a convenient hour.
The paved lake loop had three aid stations, approximately one per mile, with more food at the main station. A repeated route can make supplies easier to organize, but check the permitted personal-drink and support arrangements rather than assuming unrestricted assistance. The August marathon is separate from the organizer’s June timed races and midnight marathon at the same park. Match the exact event name and date when entering. Keep the older certification and support details attached to the edition they describe, and ask for the current course certificate if qualification is your goal. Prepare for the actual weather and use familiar supplies. Until a new announcement appears, this guide explains the Rockland format without promising that the previous August date or shuttle schedule will repeat.
