Spreewald’s confirmed Sunday marathon and new route for 2027
The full-distance entry is distinct from the festival’s cycling, walking and shorter running events in several towns. Select the 42.195 km Marathon-Lauf in Burg, and use its date and time when arranging accommodation. A festival-wide start date does not tell you when the marathon begins.
The existing route description warns that a new course is planned for 2027. Its old station positions, shared sections and stepped bridges are useful background, but they should not be treated as a final new-edition map. Wait for the updated route before fixing exact spectator positions or using an old GPX for navigation.
The old guide also lists intermediate gates and a 14:30 finish closure based on an earlier 09:00 start. The current entry form instead lists 09:10. Do not silently combine those schedules or calculate a new cutoff from them. Check the final 2027 rules for each checkpoint and the actual supported duration before deciding whether the race suits your expected pace.
The entry form sets an April 4, 2027 online deadline and says no late entries or category changes after it. Older general FAQ wording about late registration should not override this specific edition’s instruction. Confirm your chosen distance and participant details before the deadline. For preparation, include familiar running on firm unpaved surfaces as well as roads until the new map clarifies the balance. Plan passing and bridge approaches conservatively, follow any shared-road instructions, and use the final aid chart to choose familiar supplies. Supporters should use the permitted access points rather than assuming the entire Spreewald course is closed to other users.
