Lovell Canyon’s paved climbs and mandatory water capacity
The new organizer page gives the full marathon a 07:00 start, ahead of the half marathon at 07:30 and the shorter races at 08:00. The marathon’s stated limit is eight hours. The broader nine-hour event closure applies to the 50 km programme and should not be substituted for the full marathon’s own allowance.
The full route follows rolling, generally uphill Lovell Canyon Road for roughly 11 miles before returning, then adds a shorter 2.1-mile outward section and return. The organizer’s elevation estimate is 2,429 feet of gain, with the route between about 4,684 and 5,928 feet above sea level. Treat it as a hilly paved event rather than a flat city marathon.
The organizer requires marathon entrants to carry at least 24 fluid ounces, approximately 710 ml, of water capacity. This is a minimum equipment rule, not a complete personal hydration prescription. Practise carrying your chosen system, check the final aid map and current forecast, and follow organizer instructions if heat or course conditions change.
The course is shared and pacers are prohibited. Supporters should bring their own supplies because the venue has no concessions. The general packet-collection window begins at 06:00, but full-marathon runners must finish collection before their 07:00 start. Confirm the final full-distance aid positions: one published station list includes a mile beyond the marathon distance and should not be copied uncritically.
