Ozark Foothills’ Sunday marathon-length loop
The old event name includes 100, but this guide concerns the single marathon-length loop. The 100-mile, 100K and 50-mile races have different start times and limits. Do not borrow a 30- or 32-hour ultra cutoff for the Sunday marathon, even though several races use parts of the same trail network.
The loop connects trails including Deer Run, Eagle Valley, Mustang, Beulah, Fossil Ridge, DeClue, Round House, Green Rock and Dogwood. The organizer describes rocks, roots, creek crossings and both steep and rolling hills. Prepare for technical footing and sustained climbing rather than treating the approximate distance as equivalent to a flat road marathon.
The eight-hour window runs from the listed 06:00 start to 14:00. Check the final guide for intermediate checkpoints and station closures, because an overall finish limit does not guarantee unrestricted progress between them. Practise with the equipment and supplies you expect to carry, using the final aid map to estimate time between supported points.
The 2027 Book of Ozark Foothills is still described as coming soon, and the organizer says additional instructions will be emailed after online registration closes. Revisit the guide before departure for collection, parking, equipment and withdrawal arrangements. Save the Sunday marathon course rather than an ultra GPX with repeated loops. Give companions the exact race name and day, and agree on a meeting place that does not interfere with participants finishing other distances during the same endurance weekend.
