Tollensesee’s full lake circuit and Hohenzieritz checkpoint
The lake setting should not be mistaken for a flat course. The organizer describes a challenging profile, and the marathon route differs from the shorter out-and-back options. Study the full-distance elevation map and prepare for changes in gradient rather than selecting a pace solely from road-marathon distance.
The Hohenzieritz barrier is a separate constraint from the overall closure. In the 2026 rules, it fell at 11:45 after a 09:00 start. Check whether the new edition retains that arrangement, and assess your expected arrival at the checkpoint as well as your final finish time. Leaving all your margin for the later kilometres would not solve an earlier cutoff problem.
The previous event base was the Kulturpark near Neubrandenburg’s sports school. The site’s new header announces the 2027 date, but older fees, eligibility years and operational tables remain below it. Use the forthcoming 2027 rules to confirm the start, collection and finish arrangements instead of assuming every table has already been updated.
The relay also circles the lake but divides the distance between four runners, with optional transport to changeover points. Those bus arrangements are not automatically a service for individual marathon runners or spectators. If companions join the relay, compare their changeover and return instructions separately from your full-distance plan. Save the final map, checkpoint table and access notice together, practise moving over similar rolling terrain, and agree on a finish meeting point that remains reachable during the road closures. Follow the organizer’s current withdrawal instructions if you cannot continue.
