Additional event notes
The cross-border full marathon, not the 26.2 km metric race
MBNA Chester Marathon is a rolling road marathon crossing between England and Wales. The full race is 26.2 miles; its companion Metric Marathon is 26.2 km, making the distance label an essential check when entering or following a course map.
The official full-marathon page announces October 10, 2027. The same weekend includes the Metric Marathon, which is shorter despite the similar name, and a Mini Marathon. Confirm that your entry says 26.2 miles if you intend to run a full marathon. Training calculations and qualifying ambitions should use the distance you actually entered.
The organizer describes a road course crossing the English-Welsh border with rolling terrain. Use sustained effort on the rises instead of trying to hold identical pace on every slope. The current race panel gives a six-hour cutoff, a 09:00 start and 11 drink stations; check the 2027 participant guide when available for exact station positions and any operational changes.
The event village is listed at the Roodee, Chester CH1 2LY. Racecourse parking is described as weather dependent, with city-centre alternatives. Keep a backup arrival option rather than treating grass parking as guaranteed, and leave enough time to walk from whichever car park or station you use to the correct start entrance.
The page currently mixes its 2027 date with a 2026 event guide and some entry buttons that still name 2026. Before paying, inspect the year and full distance on the registration form itself. The older guide can help explain the event layout, but it should not be used as proof of the 2027 bib, transport or bag-drop schedule.
Confirmed race date
MBNA Chester Marathon: October 10, 2027. Verified on October 14, 2026 against the organizer’s distance-specific information.
Last-known race profile
These details identify the race page; they do not establish the next edition's operations. The previous race date does not establish the next edition. Use the confirmed date above and recheck the final participant instructions before committing to a race-day schedule.
What to train while the date is tentative
- establish repeatable weekly frequency before event-specific intensity;
- extend easy endurance only when the following week remains recoverable;
- practise fueling, equipment or stations in ordinary training rather than guessing race-day rules;
- keep strength and recovery compatible with the primary sessions; and
- anchor a specific block only after the organizer publishes the exact represented race date.
Once the exact date appears, use the training start-date calculator and compare the marathon training hub. The calculator cannot turn this estimate into a confirmed date.
What the organizer still needs to confirm
Recheck the exact date, represented distances, registration, venue, start waves, course, cutoff, aid, cancellation terms and participant guide. Race-week weather should come from the current forecast, not the tentative month.
Prepare without pretending certainty
The useful work now is the training you can repeat. Start training with 26weeks after choosing a real finish line and a runway that fits current readiness.
