Bergen Skogsmaraton: eight laps in Hordnesskogen
The course was revised from 2024, so an older route file may lead to the wrong turnaround. The full marathon uses eight laps and the half four; the 10 km uses two shorter laps. Follow the signs for your distance instead of following whichever runner happens to be ahead at a junction.
The previous guide describes two aid locations encountered three times per lap. Count encounters, not just station names, when planning when to drink or take familiar food. Repeated access can simplify carrying, but check the next event’s menu, personal-supply rules and any changes to the course.
The rolling gravel course rewards a steady effort over repeated climbs. Use the first lap to settle into the footing and turns rather than trying to bank time. Track completed laps independently and pay attention when runners from different distances share the same section. The shorter race’s turnaround is not the full-marathon turn.
The organizer warned that parking was limited and encouraged public transport or shared cars. Confirm the current transport plan before choosing arrival time. The previous collection options were Intersport Laguneparken on Friday and the start-area office on Saturday; collection remaining open until 11:00 did not mean a marathon runner could arrive after the 10:00 start. Check your own distance’s schedule and allow time to walk from facilities to the start. Save the exact forest meeting point, agree on a finish rendezvous and check where bags may be left. The published 2026 details help explain the event, but a new edition needs a fresh date, course confirmation and participant instructions before you make fixed travel or taper plans.
