Wells start, harbor finish and open roads
The route description begins with coastal miles before turning onto backroads and approaching the finish through the Wells Reserve at Laudholm. The same page uses both mostly flat and rolling-terrain descriptions. Prepare for changes in gradient and exposure, and use the final elevation map to refine expectations rather than assuming uninterrupted flat running.
The start and finish have different addresses. Work out the permitted parking, shuttle or drop-off arrangement before selecting accommodation, and check how you will leave the harbor after finishing. A short straight-line distance between locations does not establish a safe or open driving route during the race.
Open roads require attention to course markings and marshals throughout the run. Practise checking behind before moving sideways around other runners and avoid treating a quiet road as exclusively reserved for the field. Spectators should use the organizer’s access guidance rather than stopping a vehicle wherever the route passes.
The currently linked map is labelled 2026. It is useful background, but download the 2027 version when released and recheck aid points, surfaces and any changes near Laudholm. The weekend also includes shorter races and an optional timed-mile competition. If the marathon is your priority, choose an effort strategy for the whole distance rather than making an unplanned surge for an extra prize. Include planned support stops when assessing the seven-hour limit.
