Lles Xtrail: the runner guide describes a 44 km mountain marathon
The runner guide’s 44 km measurement differs from the rounded 42K label in an earlier programme. For preparation and expected finish time, use the detailed final route rather than assuming the standard road-marathon distance. This is a mountain event with substantial climbing, and a road personal best alone is a poor predictor of completion time.
The previous route passed Viliella and Salt del Molí before the high mountain section, then continued through the Estanys de la Pera area. Prepare for sustained climbing and controlled descending on comparable ground. The summit elevation is an absolute height above sea level, not an extra 2,905 metres of ascent to add to the published climbing total.
The old rules included intermediate time checks as well as a final limit. A runner needed to reach the earlier checkpoints in time even if an overall eight-hour finish seemed possible. Read the next complete rules and use the current route distances when estimating progress; a shortened route or diversion can have different timing and classification.
The 2025 programme offered collection the evening before and early on race morning, but the ultra started at a different time from the marathon. Check your category’s new schedule and allow time for the drive to the refuge, parking and any equipment check. Test the required carrying system and weather protection during training, and use the organizer’s final kit and aid instructions rather than a generic marathon checklist. Mountain conditions may differ between the refuge and the higher course, so review the local forecast and any race-week modifications. The older guide is useful for understanding the event’s demands, but it does not establish a new date or guarantee the same route. Wait for a named edition announcement before fixing travel, taper or cutoff calculations.
