Current status
The 2026 Lewa Safari Marathon is complete, and the 2027 date is not yet announced. The official site publishes 2026 results and says its race-information page will be updated for 2027 in due course.

What the 2026 course tells you
The organiser describes a 13-mile dirt-road loop across savannah plains, river banks and acacia woodland inside Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. The marathon used two loops; the half marathon used one.
If the 2027 course keeps that format, prepare for:
- effort-based pacing on dirt rather than forcing road splits;
- disciplined fueling through a second loop;
- heat and hydration decisions based on the actual forecast; and
- strict compliance with wildlife and course-safety instructions.
Do not use the old generic 16 C temperature listing as a race forecast. The organiser's next guide and the final forecast are the relevant sources.
Aid and wildlife safety
The 2026 race information listed water and first-aid points every 2.5 km. It said full and half-marathon runners would receive water, energy drink, oranges and bananas, with misting stations on the route.
The course runs in a game reserve. The 2026 safety system included armed rangers, patrols and aerial monitoring, and runners were instructed to remain on the designated course. These controls do not remove the need to follow every current organiser instruction.
Registration and travel
The 2026 international entry fee and fundraising rules have expired. Do not treat them as a 2027 offer. Before committing to travel, verify:
- the official 2027 date;
- international or Kenyan-resident entry route;
- current fee and fundraising requirement;
- travel, campsite and access instructions;
- medical insurance and evacuation terms; and
- the final course, aid and wildlife rules.
When to start training
There is no accurate training start date until the 2027 race date is official. Build the general foundation now: consistent running, strength, dirt-road experience and a fueling routine you can repeat.
When the date appears, use the training start-date calculator and choose from the marathon training hub based on your current base, not the most aggressive available timeline.

The results, loop, aid spacing and safety details above are official 2026 facts. The 2027 date, entry terms, route and operational rules remain pending. If the organiser's update differs, follow it.
