Two laps and a Sportforum finish
The Leipzig marathon information lists the full marathon at 10:00 on April 18, 2027, with the half marathon later at 12:45. Both use the Sportforum area, but arriving for the half-marathon timetable would miss the full start. The organizer provides separate GPX files for marathon lap one and lap two.
The published route includes Augustusplatz, the Völkerschlachtdenkmal and Clara-Zetkin-Park, finishing with a long straight of roughly 800 metres. Use those landmarks to divide the race into memorable sections, while following each lap's actual map rather than assuming the two files are interchangeable. Identify the second-lap continuation and the eventual finish turn before the race so that a crowd following another distance does not make that decision for you.
A useful preparation session is a controlled long run on a repeated route: compare effort on the second circuit without trying to make the first one a test race. Plan fueling reminders independently of the lap count, because waiting for a familiar landmark can leave too large a gap between feeds. On the final straight, judge the remaining distance before committing to a finishing acceleration.
Save the Sportforum start and meeting-point details with your running entry. Leipzig also hosts an IRONMAN 70.3 event in August, which is a triathlon with different venues and logistics. Searching only for “Leipzig race 2027” can therefore lead to the wrong athlete guide. Use the April running event's organizer and distance-specific instructions throughout your preparation.
