Kernavė’s 42K needs its own mountain-profile reading
The general event description’s 1,600 m climbing figure belongs to the 82 km route. Do not use it as the marathon’s elevation total. The 42K has its own page and map, which should guide preparation once the organizer publishes the final 2027 version.
The earlier marathon description includes demanding climbs and technical descents into Vilnius. Prepare for those movement demands gradually, with controlled trail running and practical uphill walking where useful. A country’s generally flat geography does not establish a flat race route, particularly where river valleys and wooded slopes shape the course.
The prior guide required a downloaded GPX and said final files would be issued close to race day. If that requirement continues, test navigation and battery life before the event and save the correct distance’s file offline. A marked route and a navigation requirement can coexist; do not assume either removes the need to follow current organizer instructions.
Two support points on the older 42K imply substantial time between resupply opportunities. Confirm the new locations, mandatory capacity and allowed equipment before deciding what to carry. The announced date can anchor a provisional training calendar, but old start, cutoff and support details must be replaced by the final 2027 rules before travel and race execution are treated as settled.
