Kasumigaura’s four marathon waves and fixed checkpoint clocks
The Japanese event outline and the English page agree on the race date and checkpoint clock times. Their elapsed-time labels differ, so plan against the published clock deadlines and confirm any question with the organizer. A later wave does not move those fixed closure times. Include the time needed to cross the start line when assessing your margin.
The marathon uses a lakeside circuit from the Kawaguchi Sports Park area, with the midpoint beyond the Kasumigaura City History Museum. Select the full-marathon map rather than the earlier 10-mile start or the separate 5 km route. Learn the final approach and the checkpoint positions before trying to turn a target finish time into a pacing plan.
The English instructions for overseas residents and foreign nationals describe race-day bib collection at the venue information desk, followed by an email with details at least a week before the race. Check that the instructions match your entry route; domestic collection arrangements may differ. Leave time for collection and reaching the correct wave rather than arriving only for the first gun.
The English page currently gives a registration-opening year that falls after the race itself. Do not use that inconsistent line as a booking deadline: follow the current entry link and organizer confirmation. Visually impaired runners should also check the appropriate division and guide-runner arrangements during entry. Save the final category, wave and bib instructions together, and recheck transport before race morning.
