Holmestrand’s repeated waterfront circuit and shared morning start
A repeated course allows supporters to see runners more than once, but the full marathon is not simply eight complete five-kilometre laps. Check the distance-specific map for the additional section and follow the organizer’s lap instructions. Keep track of completed laps and use the marked finish rather than relying on a watch reading alone.
The marathon and half marathon start together, while the shorter races start later. Learn the full-distance continuation point before joining the field. A runner leaving the route for the half-marathon finish may have completed their race even while you still have substantial distance remaining.
The organizer describes three food and drink points along the main circuit, with additional choices available to marathon runners. Plan familiar supplies around those opportunities without assuming every advertised item suits you. Practise steady effort over the small changes in gradient and leave space for runners travelling at different speeds on later laps.
Number collection requires the organizer’s SMS, including when collecting for someone else. Save that message and check the current collection hours; early collection can remove a queue from race morning. If considering the separate marathon-plus-10K challenge, read its specific timing rule before entering, since the second race has its own start deadline. Otherwise, plan for your marathon category alone and arrange a finish meeting point clear of later starts and active runners.
