Full marathon status
The organizer says the 2026 edition was the final full marathon. The April 17, 2027 event is a half marathon and relay, not a full marathon.
The official organizer site remains the source for new announcements. Do not use the half-marathon date as a marathon training anchor.
Hogeye after the full marathon: choose the distance that still exists
The Hogeye organizer states that the 50th running in 2026 was the last full marathon. The event continues with shorter races, including the half marathon and relay on April 17, 2027. The familiar Hogeye Marathon name and this historical page address should not be read as an announcement of a 2027 individual 26.2-mile race.
If the goal is specifically to finish a full marathon, select another confirmed event from the 2027 marathon calendar. Check that event's date and individual distance before moving a training block across. Keeping the same spring weekend may be convenient, but the replacement course, entry rules and travel requirements can be different enough to change the plan.
If the priority is taking part in Hogeye, choose the half marathon or the appropriate relay entry and prepare for that actual distance. A half marathon can be a substantial goal in its own right. It does not require treating every planned marathon-length training session as mandatory simply because an older calendar once pointed to the full race. Reconsider the block around current consistency, the new distance and the time available.
For relay participants, establish each runner's assigned leg, exchange location and transport before deciding what training is needed. A team covering a longer combined distance does not mean each teammate is running a marathon. Check the organizer's current relay format rather than carrying forward a team size or exchange map from the discontinued full-marathon era.
Plan the Springdale weekend around the current programme
The published 2027 half-marathon information places the start in downtown Springdale on Emma Avenue and describes a route extending towards Fayetteville before returning. The current schedule lists a Friday, April 16 expo at Shiloh Square. Use the half-marathon participant guide to confirm collection requirements, the precise start entrance and where you can meet someone after finishing.
The site also contains inconsistent day labels for the shorter 5K and 10K programme. If adding one of those events or coordinating with a family member, confirm the distance-specific date directly with the organizer before arranging travel around it. The half-marathon date is not sufficient evidence that every event on the website happens that same day.
Before paying, read the distance on the registration confirmation, not just the event's umbrella title. Keep that confirmation with the applicable course and schedule, particularly if returning after running the old full marathon. Familiarity with the previous start, relay exchanges or finish routine can otherwise make it easy to follow instructions that no longer apply.
For a qualifying-time goal, use the rules for the destination event and the distance it accepts. A Hogeye half-marathon result or combined relay result is not a full-marathon result. If you change to another marathon, verify its own certification and timing arrangements rather than assuming they transfer with your training plan.
This page keeps the historical full-marathon identity clear while helping runners make a useful next decision: find another confirmed 42.195 km event, or attend the continuing Hogeye weekend with a plan matched to its current programme. No future full-marathon date or countdown is supplied.
