Hobart’s waterfront loops and advance bib collection
The course description passes Salamanca Place, the River Derwent and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, but the final loop map has not yet been published. Use that description for broad preparation and wait for the full-distance map before planning turns, spectator stops or a precise lap strategy. Shorter festival routes are not a substitute.
The supported finish limit is measured from the gun rather than your individual chip crossing. Include the time needed to reach the line and any aid stops when checking readiness. Revisit the intermediate gates once announced; meeting the overall average does not guarantee that every checkpoint remains open.
Collection must be arranged before race morning. The organizer offers optional postage to Australian addresses with a published February deadline, but merchandise still needs separate collection. Check the actual method on your entry and resolve any missing bib before travelling to the start. An early 06:00 race leaves little room for an unresolved collection problem.
Prepare for the rolling waterfront course by practising steady effort over changes in gradient. Use the final aid plan to organise familiar food and fluid, and check the forecast close to race week rather than relying on an autumn average. Save the current map, collection confirmation and start-access instructions together. Agree on a finish meeting place with supporters and check any road closures that affect their access to Princes Wharf.
