Navigation is part of the Roseberry race
The Roseberry-specific Hardmoors page provides separate marathon, half-marathon and 10K routes. The series requires runners to navigate using its maps and route descriptions; do not expect continuous tape to make every junction obvious. The August 29, 2027 event needs the Roseberry marathon files, not a GPX from another race in the Hardmoors 26.2 series.
Practise reading the route before you need it under fatigue. On a safe training outing, identify an upcoming junction from the map, compare it with what is on the ground, and check your direction before running on. A downloaded track is useful, but the organizer also requires printed route information; a phone battery is not a complete navigation plan.
Read the current mandatory-kit list and pack every required item. Test the pack on trail runs so that its fit and access to food are familiar. Do not remove required equipment because the forecast looks comfortable at the start, and do not assume equipment rules for a shorter distance or another Hardmoors event apply unchanged to this marathon.
Treat “26.2” as the series identity rather than a promise of a precisely measured road-marathon course. Build time-on-feet and terrain experience into preparation, with controlled climbing and descending. Allow room in your schedule for navigation checks and aid stops rather than planning to maintain road pace everywhere. Before departure, save the final briefing, emergency contact instructions and marathon route together so that you can find the applicable information without searching across several event pages at the start.
Current race profile
The organizer remains authoritative if the course, distance program, venue, registration or schedule changes. Historical conditions are not a forecast; use current organizer advisories and the race-week forecast.
