Farndale’s 29-mile route and Hutton-le-Hole arrival
The 29-mile route exceeds a standard marathon and includes substantial climbing. Assess the actual trail profile and checkpoint spacing before setting a target, and practise sustained movement with the mandatory equipment. The half-marathon and shorter-event distances are also distinct; use the full-route documents rather than inferring the course from the series name.
The organizer provides signed parking near the village hall and explicitly prohibits parking on the main road or side streets. Follow marshals to the designated area, check the current payment requirement and allow time to walk to registration. Motorhome arrangements are separately booked and should not be assumed to include an ordinary tent campsite.
Full and half-marathon entrants have a kit check before receiving a race number. The published list includes printed map and route description, waterproof protection and emergency equipment. Read the complete list, check the items work and pack them so they remain accessible. A summer date does not remove the possibility of rapidly changing moorland conditions.
Confirm the final full-distance map and any checkpoint limits before race week. Plan familiar supplies around the supported points and carry what you will need between them. If you change category, complete the organizer’s entry process before the deadline and use the correct start and route. Agree on a finish meeting point with supporters and report any withdrawal so staff can close out your race record accurately.
