Habanero’s marathon starts at the ranch, separately from the ultras
The Bellville shuttle and road opening leg described for the ultras do not apply automatically to the marathon. Check the category-specific start in the next guide before boarding transport. The Friday evening 135-mile start is another separate schedule, despite sharing the same festival page.
The event’s summer, midday format demands a realistic assessment of preparation and conditions. Follow organizer and medical directions, including any decision to stop a participant. A generous published time allowance does not make extreme conditions suitable for every runner, and it should not be treated as a reason to continue despite problems.
The previous course used repeated ranch loops with support at the start and finish, a water point and the Hot Tamales station. Confirm the next route, station spacing and required carrying capacity before deciding what to bring. Practice with the same container and familiar supplies, and complete each timing passage before returning to a personal support area.
Parking location can affect when you can leave. The older instructions warned that vehicles positioned along the course could be held until the event ended on Sunday, while the larger field allowed earlier departures. Confirm the current arrangement and choose parking that matches your own finish plan. Crew and spectators also have separate venue-pass and supply rules; race aid is for registered participants. The detailed 2026 schedule set a last-loop deadline before the final closure, so any future finish plan must account for both. Keep the next exact day pending until the new programme appears, and recheck the marathon’s start, cutoff, collection and support rules instead of borrowing the headline ultra timetable. Save the final guide for use at the venue.
