Pery Square to O'Connell Street through Limerick
The published Limerick marathon course starts at Pery Square and finishes on O'Connell Street. It follows city streets and the River Shannon, includes the University of Limerick, and passes landmarks such as Thomond Stadium. The organizer describes the route as flat but also lists 196 metres of elevation gain, so “flat” should not be read as literally no climbing.
Use the full-marathon profile to identify where pace may vary slightly, and aim for a controlled opening rather than forcing every kilometre to match one number. A long run with gentle changes of gradient can rehearse that discipline while keeping the overall effort steady. Put aid and fueling reminders on the current course map rather than assuming the half-marathon route covers the same sequence.
The start and finish are different city-centre locations. Work out the walk to Pery Square before the race and the route from O'Connell Street afterwards, including where a supporter or dry clothes will be waiting. A meeting instruction that only says “at the start” becomes unhelpful once you have finished elsewhere.
The 2027 marathon is on May 2, while the children's programme is listed for May 1. Families taking part across the weekend should keep each person's schedule and collection requirements separate. Plan enough time to enjoy the Saturday event without leaving your own bib collection, meal preparation and equipment checks until late that night. Confirm the final full-marathon start time and access instructions from the participant guide as the event approaches.
