Regina’s announced weekend and the full-distance support window
The festival includes several distances over multiple days. The future-weekend announcement is useful for broad planning, but select the individual 42.2 km category and confirm its own day when the new registration programme opens. Do not turn the last day of a weekend range into a confirmed full-marathon date without the distance-specific schedule.
The older FAQ describes a six-hour supported course window and notes that traffic control and aid end when the course closes. A small finish crew may sometimes remain, but that is discretionary and does not extend supported running on the route. Check the next edition’s limits against a realistic finish estimate that includes stops.
The route information mentions path-to-road transitions, curbs and some narrow wooden pedestrian bridges. Leave room for other runners and avoid forcing a pass at a constriction. Review the full-marathon map and any late revisions; the organizer specifically warns that city construction can affect the route up to race day.
The older baggage rules require a clear plastic bag labelled with name and race number, with extra time allowed for the queue. Confirm the new collection and bag-check process rather than treating the old opening time as current. The course-map page says an older year on a file can mean an unchanged route, but that requires the organizer’s current confirmation. Save the final map and instructions when released and agree on a meeting place outside the active finish area.
2027 date status
The GMS Queen City Marathon's official 2027 race weekend is September 10-12, 2027, but the exact marathon day is not yet verified. The organizer's future-dates page, checked 2026-09-16, publishes the weekend only. This page therefore does not infer a Sunday race date. Registration, course, race-day operations and cancellation terms can still change independently.
Current race identity
These details identify the race. Older operational information must be checked against the next participant guide. The elapsed race date is removed until the organizer publishes the exact marathon day.
Training calendar anchors
Calendar arithmetic does not prove that a runway is appropriate. Choose the opening week only after it matches recent consistency, current health and recovery.
Use the training start-date calculator, compare the marathon training path, and use the printable plan overview only as a planning map. Do not compress missed weeks to force a date.
What the organizer still needs to confirm
Recheck the represented distance, registration, venue, start waves, course, cutoff, aid, equipment, cancellation terms and participant guide. Use the race-week forecast rather than historical averages.
Prepare without pretending certainty
The useful work now is training you can repeat. Start training with 26weeks after choosing a real finish line and a runway that fits current readiness.
