Follow the marathon turnaround on the Frisco Highline Trail
The Frisco Railroad Run organizer describes an out-and-back event on the Frisco Highline Trail from Willard, Missouri. Its April 24, 2027 programme includes the marathon alongside 50-mile, 50 km, half-marathon and 8 km events. A shared rail-trail setting does not mean those runners turn around at the same place.
The key route decision is following your own distance's turnaround and markings. Learn the marathon's instructions before the start rather than assuming that the group immediately ahead is running 26.2 miles. Likewise, a marker describing the entire regional trail is not the remaining distance in your race. Save the full-marathon map separately from the ultra maps.
The organizer describes a flat course, which makes sustained, controlled running a useful preparation focus. Rehearse an out-and-back long run without using the turnaround as permission to race home. Conditions may feel different in the opposite direction; use effort as well as pace before deciding whether an early split represents a realistic whole-race target.
Confirm the surface condition and aid locations in the final guide, then test shoes and your carrying arrangement on comparable paths. Do not assume the rail-trail label means the same footing as clean city asphalt throughout. Plan how you will pass other runners predictably on a shared course and keep your fuel accessible without stopping abruptly in the running line. If qualification is your aim, check the current marathon certification and the receiving race's requirements; the presence of other long-distance events does not make their results interchangeable with the certified marathon.
