2027 race date
Dingle Marathon: September 4, 2027. Checked against the official organizer source on October 13, 2026.
The date was checked separately from the course and planning details below, reviewed October 14, 2026. Recheck entry availability and the final athlete guide before travel.
Slea Head: plan the full peninsula route
The organizer's course overview follows the Dingle Peninsula west through Ventry and Slea Head, with views towards the Blasket Islands, before the full marathon continues through Dún Chaoin and the northern part of the peninsula towards Dingle. This is a different preparation problem from a compact city course: learn the full-marathon route and where it separates from the half, then put the later landmarks on your pacing notes.
For training, use rolling long runs to practise keeping effort steady as the road changes. A downhill kilometre is not an invitation to recover every second lost uphill. In particular, leave enough in reserve for the return towards Dingle rather than treating the scenic outward section as the main event. Check the final course profile before assigning target splits; this overview does not establish an elevation total.
As checked on October 14, 2026, the organizer lists both the 2027 full and half marathons as sold out and provides a waiting list. Joining that list does not secure a place. Resolve your entry before paying for a trip that depends on racing, and use the organizer's permitted transfer process if one becomes available.
For supporters, choose meeting points from the published road-access instructions. A peninsula road visible on a tourist map may be part of the race route. Agree a finish-area meeting point in Dingle and a fallback if mobile contact is difficult, rather than expecting a car to follow you around Slea Head.

Build consistent training
- establish repeatable weekly frequency before event-specific intensity;
- extend easy endurance only when the following week remains recoverable;
- practise fueling and equipment in ordinary training rather than guessing race-day rules;
- keep strength and recovery compatible with the primary sessions; and
- anchor a specific block to the verified race day.
Training calendar
These start dates count back from the first listed race day. For a multi-day event, recalculate from your assigned day. The duration is a planning option, not proof of readiness.
