Race date, camp dates and entry status
The Copper Canyons Marathon is listed for Sunday, October 25, 2026 in Cerocahui, Chihuahua, Mexico. The Camp Corre Libre trip runs October 19–26; October 26 is the return-travel day, not the marathon date. The organizer's detailed camp itinerary explicitly names the marathon in the Sunday programme.
The organizer-linked UltraSignup event listing says registration closed October 15. This guide is useful for existing entrants and future planning; it does not promise that a late entry remains available.
What is distinctive about the marathon course?
The marathon course description starts in Cerocahui, climbs alongside the river toward Cascadas de Cerocahui and the Sierra, reaches views over Urique Canyon, then returns through the Porochi area and another river valley. It is a mountain trail event with climbing and technical descending. A road-marathon pace projection is therefore a poor substitute for a plan based on terrain and elapsed time.
The 60K and half-marathon descriptions are separate. Do not import the ultra's extra section or the half marathon's different start into your marathon plan. No independently verified total ascent or course certification is asserted here. Carry the applicable organizer map and use the final briefing to resolve route changes.
Build a practical support plan
The organizer FAQ describes aid roughly four to six miles apart and a seven-hour cutoff at mile 21 for the marathon and 60K. It says additional cutoff details may be provided before the event. These are planning inputs to confirm at the briefing, not a guarantee that every aid station carries your preferred food.
For each interval, write down your expected elapsed time, what you will carry and what you expect to replenish. Test that carrying setup on familiar terrain. If a station lacks a preferred item, your plan should still work without borrowing an unsupported assumption from another trail race. Follow the organizer's actual equipment instructions; this guide does not invent a mandatory-kit list.
The FAQ says pacing is not allowed and much of the course is inaccessible by vehicle. A friend following the festival is not equivalent to on-course crew access. Agree on the finish and return transport rather than promising a road-side meeting somewhere along the route.
Camp participant or race-only entrant?
The camp and race-only arrangements differ. The camp itinerary supplies group transfers and lodging arrangements; race-only entrants need their own confirmed accommodation and access plan. Check which services your purchase includes. A headline package price is not a substitute for your booking confirmation.
The published itinerary schedules packet pickup and the final race briefing on Saturday evening. Sunday transfers for camp participants precede the race. Because the registration header and itinerary disagree on start time, obtain the final meeting and departure instructions directly. Do not resolve that discrepancy by simply choosing the later time.
With one week left, the task is preparation, not fitness catch-up
October 18 is seven days before the listed race. A 12-week build would have begun August 2; a 16-week build July 5; a 20-week build June 7. These are calendar calculations, not recommendations to compress missed training.
For an existing entrant, review the work already completed, equipment, navigation, travel and any recovery concerns. The training start-date calculator can compare a later race if the current distance no longer fits. A shorter category is an option only if the organizer permits a change and it matches your actual preparation.
Use the marathon training hub for longer-term planning. Start training now if you want a training structure for a future goal. A generic plan does not replace the trail-specific skills or final participant instructions for this event.
