Bretzel: choose a running format and a specific day within the festival
Choose the event format before calculating a training calendar. One marathon, several marathons on successive days, a continuous multi-marathon challenge and a timed race are different commitments. A registration heading for ultra triathlon also does not mean a runner must complete swimming and cycling when entering a separate running category.
The course page mentions both 1.280 km and 1.330 km for the running circuit. Do not calculate the number of marathon laps from either value until the organizer confirms the final route and any partial opening or closing section. Follow the timing and lap-counting instructions for the actual category.
The repeated village passage can make supplies and support easier to organize, but confirm the permitted assistance area and personal-table arrangements. Supporters should know when they can hand over items and where to stand without obstructing the course. Test your planned supplies and equipment in advance rather than relying on frequent access to solve every problem during the event.
The organizer describes lighting around the village and running loop, while other parts of the venue have different arrangements. Check whether your selected race extends into darkness and what personal lighting or clothing is required. For a single marathon, obtain the exact day, start time, finish limit and collection window from the current programme before booking travel. For a multi-day entry, also confirm overnight arrangements and the rules for each day’s start and completion. The festival announcement establishes the overall period, but it should not turn the first day into a universal marathon date. Keep the next standalone start pending until the category-specific schedule resolves it, and recheck the final route before choosing a pacing or lap-count plan.
