Black Mountains: the current Beast of the Blacks entry is not a marathon
The old page title combines distances from an earlier Black Mountains programme. Do not choose the 20-mile race assuming it is a half marathon, or the 40-mile ultra assuming it is a marathon. Select the intended distance explicitly and check the route, climbing and cutoff requirements attached to that entry.
The new Beast listing describes marked routes with downloadable navigation files. Those arrangements belong to that event and should not be applied to another Limitless Trails race, some of which use different navigation formats. Obtain the correct file for the chosen distance and know how to use it before race day.
The current entry page requires a kit check at registration with identification and warns that checks may also happen during the race. Read the complete current list rather than relying on a shortened summary. Test the loaded pack, weather protection and carrying system during preparation, including how you will access items without unpacking everything.
The mountain setting calls for preparation on comparable climbs, descents and footing. Use expected effort and time between support points when planning, rather than a road-marathon pace target. Confirm the current headquarters, parking arrangements and start time before booking transport; an older venue in the Black Mountains may serve a different course. Bring the required cup and follow the organizer’s waste rules. Companions should use authorized access points and have a clear finish meeting plan. The March date is valid for the named Beast distances only. Until a separate full-marathon announcement appears, this guide keeps the older marathon identity visible while explaining the current alternatives, without assigning them an inaccurate marathon distance or an assumed 2027 marathon date.
