Two Pennypack laps, including Mount Cuckoo twice
The 1/2 Sauer 1/2 Kraut race page lists June 5, 2027 at 07:30 for the marathon and half marathon. The marathon runs two laps of a course described as roughly 80% paved and 20% trail, including the Mount Cuckoo section and short, steep rolling hills. The organizer explicitly says this is not a Boston qualifying course.
Plan for the second pass through the hills, not just the first. A controlled opening on the paved path leaves more flexibility when the trail section changes your rhythm. Practise both surfaces in the same outing and test shoes that remain comfortable on pavement while giving dependable footing off road. Do not choose the event on the assumption that a city-park route is uniformly flat.
The published marathon limit is six and a half hours. Include stops and the repeated climbing when assessing that allowance, and keep a slower contingency for the day's conditions. The organizer warns about possible summer heat, but use the actual forecast and final instructions for race-day decisions rather than treating that warning as a precise prediction.
The site identifies Ed Kelly Amphitheater at Welsh Road and Cresco Avenue as the start area and notes that minor course changes are expected for 2027. Download the final map before travelling; an older Pennypack or another Überendurance event's map may take you to a different location. The post-race food and celebration are separate from your on-course fueling plan, so carry or collect the familiar supplies you need to reach that finish comfortably.
