Additional event notes
Amager Strandpark, North Zealand and four city run laps
IRONMAN Copenhagen links the Amager Strandpark lagoon with a two-loop ride through North Zealand and a four-loop city marathon. T1 is at the beach, T2 is at King’s New Square, and the finish is in front of Christiansborg Palace.
The organizer confirms August 22, 2027. The lagoon swim and first transition are at Amager Strandpark, away from the city-centre finish. Plan morning transport separately from post-race collection, and check whether any event transfer applies to your entry rather than assuming a central hotel is within walking distance of the swim.
The 180 km bike preview uses two loops through a mixture of city, coast, forest and countryside in North Zealand. Prepare a consistent effort that tolerates changes in wind and road direction. Check the final map for turnarounds and the route into T2 so you can distinguish another lap from the end of the bike.
The second transition is described at King’s New Square, followed by a run through Nyhavn and other central landmarks. The four-loop marathon passes places such as the Little Mermaid and Amalienborg before finishing at Christiansborg. Keep a lap-count method that works when tired and identify the final-lap exit before the race.
The current transition instructions distinguish blue bike bags at T1 from red run bags at T2. Rehearse what you need at each location and verify the final bag-drop and collection arrangements. The published course remains subject to change, so use the 2027 guide for exact entrances, cutoffs and aid products, even when the broad route landmarks stay familiar.
Confirmed race date
IRONMAN Copenhagen: August 22, 2027. Verified on October 14, 2026 against the organizer’s distance-specific information.
Current race profile
The organizer remains authoritative if the course, distance program, venue, registration or schedule changes. Historical conditions are not a forecast; use current organizer advisories and the race-week forecast.
Training calendar anchors
These dates are calendar arithmetic, not proof that a plan length is appropriate.
Use the training start-date calculator for another runway and compare the IRONMAN training hub. Do not compress missed weeks to force the calendar.
Check the final participant instructions
- Match the exact represented distance to its start day and wave.
- Recheck course surface, elevation, turns and cutoff before prescribing race-specific sessions.
- Rehearse fueling, equipment and transitions where relevant; do not introduce them on race day.
- Confirm transport, check-in and cancellation terms before non-refundable travel.
- Use current weather and organizer alerts instead of historical averages.
Turn the date into a plan you can absorb
Start from recent consistency and recovery, not only the number of weeks available. Start training with 26weeks when you want the near-term schedule to respond to completed work, recovery and real-life changes.
