A hilly 90 km ride, with 2026 maps clearly labelled
The organizer separates a confirmed 2027 race day from the previous edition’s maps. Use the older profile to judge whether this hilly 70.3 suits your preparation, then replace it with the 2027 route when published. The full IRONMAN takes place in the same destination, but its distances, lap counts and cutoff schedule are different.
The 2026 bike description includes a sustained climb to La Guillermie and technical approaches around Ferrières-sur-Sichon and Arronnes. Prepare gearing that lets you climb within a sustainable effort and practise controlled descending on suitable training roads. Do not treat time lost uphill as something that must be recovered by taking risks downhill.
The previous route starts beside the Allier and warns that the opening section can be slippery when wet. Later road chicanes narrow the line through Puy-Guillaume. These details make handling and attention useful training priorities alongside endurance; confirm whether they remain on the final 2027 map.
The source lists older limits of 1:10 for the swim, 5:30 through the bike and eight hours overall, plus an intermediate bike deadline. Those are 2026 context, not a promise for 2027. Check all cumulative and intermediate limits in the new guide, including transition time, and practise a nutrition plan you can tolerate across the climb and two-lap run.

Current race profile
The organizer remains authoritative if the course, distance program, venue, registration or schedule changes. Historical conditions are not a forecast; use current organizer advisories and the race-week forecast.
Training calendar anchors
These dates are calendar arithmetic, not proof that a plan length is appropriate.
Use the training start-date calculator for another runway and compare the IRONMAN 70.3 training hub. Do not compress missed weeks to force the calendar.
