The announced 2027 Knokke-Heist race is a full IRONMAN
The official municipality’s September 2026 update describes the transition to Belgium’s first full-distance IRONMAN. The new IRONMAN event page confirms September 5, 2027 and uses a different race identity from the old 70.3 page. Check the actual distance before entering or selecting a training plan.
The new full race is described as starting in the Damsche Vaart in the Netherlands and finishing on Belgium’s coast. Those are facts about the new event, not proof that an additional half-distance race shares its day, route or transition arrangements. This guide therefore keeps the next 70.3 date unconfirmed.
The official 2026 registration record identifies the completed September 6 half-distance event. Older athlete guides include split transition and shuttle arrangements, but they should not be reused as current instructions for either a future 70.3 or the 2027 full-distance race.
A full IRONMAN requires a substantially different swim, bike and run preparation commitment from 70.3. If you intended to enter the half distance, compare another confirmed 70.3 event rather than treating the new race as an automatic replacement. Confirm the event, distance and entry terms first, then choose a training runway that fits your current capacity.
2027 date status
The exact next-edition date is awaiting confirmation. A previous race month does not establish a future event. Wait for an organizer announcement that names this race and distance before calculating a taper or booking race-specific travel.
Current race identity
These details identify the race. Previous-edition start, route and transport information must be checked against the next participant guide. The elapsed race date is removed until the organizer publishes an exact future date.
Training calendar anchors
Calendar arithmetic does not prove that a runway is appropriate. Choose the opening week only after it matches recent consistency and recovery.
Use the training start-date calculator, compare the IRONMAN 70.3 training path, and use the printable plan overview only as a planning map. Do not compress missed weeks to force a date.
What the organizer still needs to confirm
Recheck the represented distance, registration, venue, start waves, course, cutoff, aid, equipment, cancellation terms and participant guide. Use the race-week forecast rather than historical averages.
Prepare without pretending certainty
The useful work now is training you can repeat. Start training with 26weeks after choosing a real finish line and a runway that fits current readiness.
