Course guide
Course answer first
The January 24, 2027 Bank of Cyprus Nicosia Marathon starts at 06:45 from Solomou Square and finishes at Eleftheria Square. The official marathon page describes an urban route passing Nicosia landmarks, including the Municipal Theatre, Griva Digeni Avenue, Municipal Gardens, Famagusta Gate, the Liberty Monument and the Synergasias Street linear park.
The official page does not publish a total elevation gain in the content verified for this update. This guide therefore does not repeat the old directory claim that the course is flat.
Route decisions
| Course element | Preparation decision |
|---|---|
| 06:45 start | Rehearse early breakfast, travel and warm-up timing |
| Urban turns and landmarks | Hold effort through direction changes instead of chasing splits |
| Linear-park section | Stay attentive to surface and crowding changes |
| City start to central finish | Verify the final transport and bag plan |
| Unknown elevation total | Use the current map; do not invent a flat-course target |
Pacing worksheet
- Start from a recent, realistic marathon-effort estimate.
- Add aid and turn time to the finish projection.
- Mark the first 10 km as controlled, especially with an early start.
- Let pace change with turns, surface and conditions while effort remains steady.
- Recheck the final organizer map before racing.
What to verify closer to race day
- Final route map and any closures or reroutes.
- Aid-station locations and supplied products.
- Cutoff and intermediate timing points.
- Bib collection, transport and bag arrangements.
- Current Nicosia forecast and organizer safety guidance.
Rehearsal without false precision
Use a familiar urban route to practise early-start logistics, turns and fueling. Do not try to recreate an elevation profile the organizer has not quantified. The goal is to make decisions automatic while keeping training load appropriate.
